Resumo

This work is part of the Programme of Food Self-Production (P.A.A.) Since 2002 this programme ,spreading from the university, gives support to urban and peripheral vegetable gardens with technical difficulties and, which solution cannot be found in the standards of investigation and development given by the conventional agriculture. So, through this work, we propose to adapt the mechanisms of study of the agrarian sciences to the small surface of an urban vegetable garden, taking into consideration the popular knowledge of the farmers in reference to the influence of the moon over the crops. The work was done over two species: broccoli and lettuce. Both were planted in two moon phases: crescent and waning. In both cases differences in productivity were found according to those moments. Keywords : familiar horticulture- Influence of the Moon – popular knowledge
